The journey takes approximately 2 hours, offering scenic views of the Andalusian countryside along the way. Be sure to check the train schedules in advance, as there are several departures throughout the day.
- By car, from Malaga, take the A-357 and A-367 highways, which wind through the breathtaking landscape of the Serranía de Ronda mountain range. The drive takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.
- Upon arrival in Ronda, the train station is located a short walk from the town center, making it convenient to begin your exploration of this charming destination.
Check the Puente Nuevo and Old Town

Day 5: Adventure at Caminito del Rey
Today, venture out of Malaga for an exhilarating day at Caminito del Rey, one of Spain’s most thrilling hiking trails. Start your day early with a hearty breakfast, as you’ll need plenty of energy for the day ahead.
There are 2 options: you can either book your entry tickets a few weeks in advance and travel to the Caminito on your own or book a full tour with transport included.

- To get to Caminito del Rey from Malaga, you can take a direct train from María Zambrano station to El Chorro station. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes. From El Chorro station, you can catch a shuttle bus to the entrance of Caminito del Rey. Be sure to check the train and shuttle bus schedules in advance, as they can vary depending on the season.
- Alternatively, you can rent a car and drive to Caminito del Rey. The drive takes about an hour from Malaga and offers scenic views of the Andalusian countryside.
Hike and enjoy the nature
Once you arrive at Caminito del Rey, prepare for an awe-inspiring adventure as you hike along narrow pathways clinging to the steep cliffs of the Gaitanes Gorge. Marvel at the breathtaking views of the turquoise waters below and the rugged rock formations towering above.
